Reducing Repair Incidents by Using the PROPER Equipment

INFORMATIVE VIDEO COMING SOON.

Don't get us wrong we love repair business but we also love helping our customers reduce unnecessary costs. By reducing unnecessary costs our customers are able to grow and when they grow we grow.

A healthy-normal-expected failure rate for a warehouse environment is ~10-25%/year. This means that a warehouse with 100 handhelds should expect 10-25 incidents that require repair per year. This number varies greatly by industry and age of handhelds but is usually a good average to shoot for.

To reduce the number of failures there are 3 steps that should be taken:

1. Proper Storage/Holstering:
  • Create a designated area for handhelds. By creating a 'home' for the handhelds people are less likely to unknowingly place devices in harms way during breaks or at end of shift/day.
  • Potential for productivity increase with ease increased ease of access to handhelds when properly using a holster

2. Inform:
  • By properly informing users on the correct handling procedures you can greatly reduce the number of accidental 'fork truck run overs'...
  • Make sure users are cautious about where they place equipment. i.e out of harms way. Not between the hydraulics's of a lift truck.

3. Maintain:
  • Proper maintenance of your barcode scanner fleet can reduce costs in the long term
  • Periodically inspect scanners for loose scan engines/breaking triggers/display issues to reduce the risk of further damage to the scanner
