To reduce the number of failures there are 3 steps that should be taken:
1. Proper Storage/Holstering:
- Create a designated area for handhelds. By creating a 'home' for the handhelds people are less likely to unknowingly place devices in harms way during breaks or at end of shift/day.
- Potential for productivity increase with ease increased ease of access to handhelds when properly using a holster
2. Inform:
- By properly informing users on the correct handling procedures you can greatly reduce the number of accidental 'fork truck run overs'...
- Make sure users are cautious about where they place equipment. i.e out of harms way. Not between the hydraulics's of a lift truck.
3. Maintain:
- Proper maintenance of your barcode scanner fleet can reduce costs in the long term
- Periodically inspect scanners for loose scan engines/breaking triggers/display issues to reduce the risk of further damage to the scanner
